All About Mrs. Mills
I was born and and raised here in Austin, TX. I graduated from Westlake High School and continued on to the University of Texas where I got a degree in Early Education with a minor in Spanish. Following college I lived in NYC for one year before I returned in January 2005. I went back to work as a swim coach at Lost Creek Country Club and worked there until 2012. I was hired to teach at Bridge Point in Aug. 2005, and even though my student teaching experience was in the upper grades, I started out in 1st grade. I soon found out that teaching younger kids is my passion and have been doing it for the last 13 years, all at Bridge Point.
In December 2008, I married my husband Sean. We have a very unique history. He was also born and raised in Austin and like me, grew up in Eanes and continued on to UT. We were not high school sweethearts nor close friends in college. However, we have come to find out that we were in the same 1st grade class at Eanes Elementary, and Mrs. McLaughlin was his 2nd grade teacher. Can you believe that? Not only do we share a very similar upbringing, but we also share a love for Mexican food, the Dallas Cowboys, and the wonderful city we live in! We consider ourselves very lucky to be able to live and work in Austin.
Sean and I have 2 wonderful boys. Charlie is 3.5 yrs. old and is a very happy and caring boy! Harris will be 2 in April. He is very mellow and loves to follow his big brother around. They both attend the CDC at Valley View Elementary. I enjoyed my time off this summer hanging out with my boys at the pool, park, and neighborhood splash pads. We also took the boys to the beach for their first time. They loved playing in the sand, jumping the waves, and riding the golf cart. Sean and I are also aunt and uncle to 10 nieces and nephews. My family and I enjoy spending time out on the lake, watching football with our friends, and traveling. We love heading to Mexico in the winter and Colorado in the summer. As long as we are together, we are happy wherever we are!
I love teaching and feel very fortunate to be at a school with supportive families and wonderful kids. I believe that having a good working relationship between teachers and parents is an extremely important part of our student’s academic success. I tend to think of parents and teachers as “partners” in our mutual effort toward the shared goal of growing responsible, confident and successful students. I look forward to another great year at BPE!
